Commercial fuel delivery truck on industrial road

CASE STUDY / FLEET

Fleet Fuel Delivery

How a regional delivery company reduced fuel costs 20% with scheduled bulk delivery and wireless tank monitoring.

The Challenge

The company was fueling a mixed fleet of delivery vehicles at retail pumps and managing multiple fuel cards across drivers. Costs were unpredictable month to month, drivers were spending time at fuel stations during routes, and there was no visibility into consumption by vehicle or department.

The operations team wanted a fixed, predictable cost structure and better data on which routes were consuming the most fuel.

The Approach

Fox Fuel set up a bulk diesel delivery program with a dedicated on-site tank at the company’s primary yard. Delivery scheduling was built around actual fleet run patterns rather than a fixed calendar, keeping the tank at operational levels without overfills or emergency calls.

A wireless tank monitor was installed to give both the customer and Fox Fuel real-time visibility into fuel levels. Automated alerts replaced manual dipstick checks. Drivers fueled at the yard before dispatch rather than mid-route.

Results

  • Fuel costs reduced 20% compared to the prior retail pump program
  • Driver time at fuel stations eliminated during routes
  • Zero runout events since installation
  • Fuel consumption now tracked by vehicle through the monitoring system
